Pre-Academy is a year-round, intensive training program, which provides the optimal environment for players to develop their individual technical ability. The program is designed to focus on the core techniques to help create a platform for future success as graduates enter our Force Academy at Under 9. 

Pre Academy Program Features:
- Year-round training program of approximately 38-40 weeks
- Fast Track program into Under-9 Force Academy Competitive play
- 5-Day Training Camp - July 2016 (U8 Group Only)
- Periodized training program focuses on individual technical development
- U8 - 3 sessions per week
- U7 - 2 sessions per week
- U6 - 1 session per week
- Minimum three inter-club festivals held per year
- Additional friendly games scheduled against other clubs
- Additional Goalkeeper-specific training events
- Mini Juggler's club - homework program

The program is designed and implemented by Craig Stead, in consultation with Club Technical Director Paul Harris (UEFA 'A' License). The program delivery also involves assistance from coaches within OSU Force Academy's Technical Staff.

Qualifications - Craig Stead 
- US National Youth License - specialization in coaching U6-12 (only coach in Eastern Ontario to hold this license)
- B License National (CSA) - youngest coach in Canada to achieve license 
- Ontario Soccer Association Learning Facilitator
- Exposure to professional clubs and academies throughout North America
- Graduate Certificate, Sport Business Management, Algonquin College
- B.A. in Political Science, Carleton University
- Former Full Scholarship Athlete - Daemen College, New York

  • 16 week program between May - September 
  • training sessions will be 45 minutes - 1 hour 
  • games will be included at training sessions + scheduled separately at times

  • all sessions are on grass rental space 
The yearly calendar will include between 38-40 weeks of programming with structured breaks listed below.

Fall Trials
Each player will enter the program through Fall Trials. This five week program will allow Pre-Academy staff to evaluate players before coming to a conclusion on if they have the right attitude and potential to pursue this intensive track to their soccer development. For those players who are not ready to enter Pre-Academy, they will be offered a place within OSU's Grassroots Academy. 

Structured Breaks

Holidays and summer break dates to be determined. 

The Pre-Academy Curriculum focuses on these core areas to optimize player development:
- Individual athletic development (coordination, agility, quickness)
- Running with the ball
- Turning
- Shooting
- Ball Striking
- Passing
- Combination play (with teammates)
- Decision making
- Small Sided Games (2v2, 3v3, 4v4)

U6 Pre-Academy - Summer $240

U7 Pre-Academy Year-Round Costs: $1020.00 + $50 Trial Fee

U8 Pre-Academy Year-Round Costs: $1,470.00 + $50 Trial Fee

Costs will be divided into 10 monthly payment instalments beginning October 2016 - July 2017

The trial fee is paid to attend Fall Trials. Players will be notified of their acceptance within the program in September, before the monthly payments begin in October.
